Acquainted with the Day
April 4, 2007 dennisse
this is my spinoff of a poem titled “Acquainted with the Day,” written by Robert Frost (1969).
I have been one acquainted with the day.
I have seen time stand still – and start again.
I have seen the rising star.
I have looked upon a hurried crowd.
I have passed the man with his guitar,
And looked away, unable to say why.
I have stopped and let my mind stand still
When I was startled by a noise
Coming from my past.
But it wasn’t saying I should turn around or keep walking;
And continuing down my line of vision,
the star that stood above me
Couldn’t seem to tell me which way to go.
I have been one acquainted with the day.
